![]() ![]() I ran the purchase with TRT30 code and that gave me 30% off AND a $20 core return AND reset the warranty to 3 year replacement (because it was a fresh purchase at that point). Prior to leaving the house, I had already setup the purchase and had the battery ready in my online shopping cart on the phone. Mgr offers to refund the $57 to my card, then I could purchase online. I complained some more because it was $132 to begin with online. They then took $57 off the $152 and told me warranty would continue on new battery. First, when they told me "no more pro-rated" I complained and showed them my receipt. I think they kinda hated me by the time I left. Online sale however, charged the core cost and listed it as such. They didn't want to give me the $20 core refund if purchased in store. Oh, I'm sure they'll gladly accept them for free. The pollution was so bad some of her clothing and shoes began to disintegrate. The recycling is done 300 miles from the coast- as the government is encouraging businesses to open in the undeveloped and uncrowded areas there. My cousin traveled to China last December, and interned at the Johnson Controls plant offices there for a week as part of her business school classes. But Johnson Controls started recycling AND production in China- first for the huge China auto market, but they now plan to sell Chinese-made car batteries here in the USA. Exide ended up filing for re-organization bankruptcy because they had not planned ahead and had to pay tens of millions in fines.Įxide still makes batteries, as does Johnson Controls and East Penn. Johnson Controls moved recycling operations right over the border to Mexico- then promptly contacted the California EPA to look into Exide's operations there, and how it was below standards. The majority used to be recycled here in the USA- mostly in California and Nevada. The USA does have hazardous waste disposal rules that require battery sellers to accept old batteries. Is this true about the pro-rated and core?Ĭlick to expand.Good point. I walked out of there with a battery and another $15 item for $60 bucks total AND, with a new full warranty. ![]() Well,to make a long story short, things went a little different than that scenario. Now he was willing to give me $57 off the battery, which said is sold for $152.and the pro rated warranty on this new battery would have to continue, to the 84 months. "that may be so, but right now.I got a receipt that I'd like you to read." So, I whipped out the receipt which plainly stated I had 7 years of warranty and the mgr back tracked quickly. I drove the car to Advance with tools in trunk and they proceed to tell me "no more pro-rated warranty or core returns" and how "no one does that anymore." SO I said. I printed out my scanned receipt and it was 3 years full, or 84 months pro-rated replacement. I was going to buy one online using my usual discount codes, then realized that I probably had some pro-rated warranty left. I just hope nobody asks me why my Mazda has a Honda branded battery. So my Advance Auto battery gave up the ghost after a little over four years. Since the Exide battery is only about a year old, it'll probably last me another 2 or 3 years. So I swapped the two batteries last week. Just happens so that I have a 2011 Mazda CX-9 that I'm selling that has the same exact battery size, that has an Exide battery with a sticker that says "shipped May 2020". The original alternator in the van needed replacement sometime in 2019, so the battery survived the alternator replacement, apparently, and hasn't given me any issues since I bought the van a year and a half ago.Īnyways, it's coming up on 4 years old, so even though it had no signs of any problems, I thought it might be a good idea to swap it out soon. It's an OEM Honda battery that I think is manufactured by Interstate? The previous owner of my Odyssey had the dealer install a new battery in January 2018 (battery mfg sticker says November 2017). ^ yes, this - batteries are not designed to be fully discharged and even discharging it once can reduce its overall lifespan.
